Shipping shoes does not have to be expensive.

Sending shoes through the mail can be expensive. If you choose Parcel Post shipping, you can avoid paying the higher rates of regular first-class mail. The United States Post Office website states that Parcel Post offers the best value for mailing gifts and other merchandise. As of May 2011, rates start at $5.10, and delivery takes between two and eight days. The cost is based on the weight and the distance the package travels.

Step 1

Wrap the shoes with bubble wrap to keep them from shifting during shipping. Then put the wrapped shoes back into their original shoebox so that everything is packed tightly.

Step 2

Seal the top of the shoebox to the bottom with tape. Then place the shoebox inside a shipping box that is just slightly larger, so it fits without sliding around. This avoids needing extra packing material that would increase the package's weight.

Step 3

Put a greeting card inside the shipping box. Close the box and seal both the top and bottom with three strips of 2-inch reinforced packaging tape.

Step 4

Write the recipient's address and your return address on the box.

Step 5

Bring the package to your local post office and ask for Parcel Post shipping. Your package should arrive within eight days.
