A Guide to Swapping Out a Price Pfister Sprayer

Price Pfister faucets come with either a side sprayer or a pull-down sprayer integrated into the spout. When sprayer heads or hoses leak, they need to be replaced. The replacement procedure mirrors that of any other faucet sprayer. Kits from Price Pfister contain both the hose and sprayer head, and can be purchased at home improvement stores or directly from the manufacturer.

Depending on the model, Price Pfister faucets may feature a separate side sprayer or a pull-down sprayer that runs through the spout. If either the sprayer head or the hose starts leaking, replacement becomes necessary. The process for swapping out a Price Pfister sprayer is similar to replacing any other faucet sprayer. Replacement kits from Price Pfister come with both the hose and the sprayer head, and you can find them at home improvement centers or order directly from Price Pfister.

Step 1

Head beneath the sink and shut off the water supply by closing the shutoff valves. Then open the faucet handle to let any water left in the line drain out.

Step 2

Find the point under the sink where the sprayer hose attaches to the faucet. Using a faucet wrench, turn the hose connector counterclockwise to loosen it, and then detach the sprayer hose.

Step 3

If you are replacing a separate side sprayer, unscrew and remove the nut that holds the sprayer-head holder to the sink. The sprayer-head holder is the decorative piece that cradles the sprayer head when it is not in use.

Step 4

Pull the sprayer head and its holder up and out of the sink from above, bringing the hose along with them. For a pull-down faucet, pull down on the sprayer head to remove it. Be gentle when drawing the hose through the spout; if it gets stuck, wiggle it until it comes free.

Step 5

For a pull-down sprayer, slide the new sprayer assembly into the spout. For a separate side sprayer, feed the hose through the sprayer holder. Pass the hose through the hole in the sink and set the holder into the hole so its bottom sits flush with the sink. The sprayer head rests on the holder.

Step 6

Apply new plumber's tape to the faucet threads where the sprayer hose will connect. If you are replacing a side sprayer, slip the holder retaining nut over the hose first, then thread it onto the holder and tighten it by hand until snug.

Step 7

Screw the end of the hose onto the faucet and tighten it with a faucet wrench. Finally, turn the water supply back on.
