You can throw a Grey's Anatomy party.
How much food you serve, how many people show up, and how long the event lasts can all differ from one party to the next. What stays the same, though, is that a "Grey's Anatomy" gathering gives fans a chance to enjoy watching their beloved series with others. The show itself provides the entertainment, making this a good option for Grey's enthusiasts who want a change of pace from yet another football or basketball get-together.
Extend Invitations to Your Circle
Get the word out about your "Grey's Anatomy" party. Pick up some black-and-white invitations with a clean look and write on them using a red felt-tip pen. Alternatively, you can design an invitation that looks like a medical chart for a more creative touch. Labeling the top with “LABS” will amuse dedicated "Grey's" viewers.
As with most parties, knowing the headcount in advance makes things run more smoothly for whoever is hosting. Ask your invited guests to RSVP early enough that you have time to plan and prepare properly.
Let Guests Know What to Expect
Set a start and end time for your Grey's Anatomy party, and tell guests whether they should bring anything. For instance, is this an overnight event? Is it a Bring Your Own Booze (BYOB) situation?
Tequila Is Essential
Stock up on what you need. A "Grey's Anatomy" party should include tequila as a nod to Meredith Grey. You can also offer soda, beer, and wine as mixers (or simply go with a BYOB policy). What food you serve should reflect the tastes of the Grey's fans who are coming. One idea: a trip to McDonald's for some McSnacks as a tribute to McDreamy.
Choose What to Watch
Figure out the viewing lineup. You could go with a season premiere, a season finale, a selection of favorite episodes, or a marathon of one particular season.
Another option is to have each "Grey's" fan name their favorite episode when they RSVP. That way, you can shape the party around your guests. Or, if you're getting ready for a new season, watch a full recap of the previous season on DVD.
Bring Out the Trivia
Include a trivia activity. The "Grey's Anatomy" trivia game works well as an ice-breaker for serious fans, setting the party mood while refreshments are being readied and guests arrive one by one. The "Grey's Anatomy" trivia game can be found online (see Resources) and at most stores that carry board games (call ahead before you go to the store to check that it's in stock).
Toilet Paper Gown Contest
Add a "Grey's"-themed contest to the agenda. Once everyone has watched a few episodes and had a few drinks, take an intermission for a toilet paper bridal gown contest, a tribute to the show's third season finale when the girls threw a bachelorette party for Christina Yang. In this casual contest, each "Grey's" fan makes a wedding gown for herself using nothing but a roll of toilet paper.
To cut down on waste, you might reuse the toilet paper to clean up after the party, or put it all in a recycling bin. Choose one person to decide which dress wins, and offer a prize for the winner--perhaps a "Grey's Anatomy" DVD set?
