Crafting Pointy Ears from Manila Paper: A Simple Project for Kids

Movies such as "Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter" have made elves increasingly popular. At some point, your children may express a desire to dress up as a Christmas elf, a lovely fairy, or a character from "Star Trek." Making elf ears from paper is an easy craft suitable for kids. Once finished, place the ears in your child's dress-up box so she can have pointy ears whenever she likes.
Step 1

On a piece of manila paper, sketch two triangles. For Christmas elves, draw smaller ears; for fairies, make them longer and more pointed.
Step 2

Cut out the two triangles.
Step 3

Slice the manila paper along its length to create a strip roughly one inch wide. Wrap it around your head to determine the length needed for a comfortable fit like a headband across the top of the head. Cut off any extra.
Step 4

Secure the headband with staples.
Step 5

Add decorations to the ears. You can draw curves to mimic real ears or color them in. Attach them to the headband with tape, placing one on each side.
