Getting a stocking filled with little gifts is a holiday highlight, but not every home comes with a mantel to hang one from. Three TikTok creators have come up with practical fixes worth considering. Their ideas range from staircase railings and media furniture to an ordinary wall, giving people without a chimney or fireplace mantel several ways to display stockings.

Using zip ties and cord bundlers are great ways to temporarily hang stockings for the season.

One approach comes from TikToker @nicholepaclibar, who hangs stockings on a media console using cord bundlers. These holders come off without much effort and can be hidden behind garland or other decorations. The hangers themselves can be kept for the following year, with only fresh adhesive strips needed when it's time to put stockings up again. There's an added bonus to arranging stockings beneath the TV: you can play a YouTube clip of a crackling fire and imagine you're sitting beside an actual fireplace. Quite cozy.

A different method is demonstrated by @huntersridgedesigns, who fastens stockings to her staircase banister with zip ties. She then conceals the ties by wrapping green ribbon around them. @huntersridgedesigns notes that this technique is fairly widespread, and its popularity stems from the fact that it works. The positioning of her stockings is also appealing—they rest on the banister in a spot that's ideal for eager kids hurrying down the stairs on Christmas morning.

Finally, @paige.cesare repurposes a salvaged tree branch to build a charming and useful place for her family's stockings. For anyone lacking a fireplace, staircase, or space under the TV, this offers a solid stocking option while also adding a festive decorative touch to the home. A multi-purpose answer is always welcome. Coating the branch in white paint to look like snow is another helpful suggestion.

As @paige.cesare puts it: No mantel, no problem! Whichever spot you pick for showing off your stockings this holiday, they're sure to be hung with care.
