Ways to Dispose of a Plastic Kiddie Pool Responsibly
Plastic wading pools offer a simple way for children, and occasionally pets, to stay cool during summer when no larger pool is available. They can also cut down on water use, since a single daily fill takes less water than hours of sprinkler operation. Once children have outgrown the pool, recycling is an alternative to throwing it away.

You can recycle a kiddie pool when your children outgrow it.
Many children -- and even some pets -- get plenty of enjoyment from a plastic swimming pool. When an above-ground or in-ground pool isn't an option, these pools give kids a way to beat the heat on summer days. Using a plastic pool may also reduce water consumption, because filling it once a day uses less water than leaving a sprinkler running for hours. After your children have outgrown the pool, you can choose to recycle it instead of disposing of it in a landfill.
Step 1
Contact the government of your local city or township to find out whether plastic pools are recycled in your community. If they aren't, ask whether a nearby location will take it.
Step 2
Clean the pool thoroughly so that no dirt remains on its surface.
Step 3
Either leave the pool at your curb or bring it to the designated drop-off site for recycling.
