Store a silver tea set like this properly to avoid tarnishing.
Silver tea sets are often kept on display because they are valuable items. However, when they must be put away—for example, during a move or for long-term storage—extra care is necessary. If not, the silver can tarnish, and removing tarnish may be challenging. Following a few simple measures can help reduce the risk of problems.
Step 1
Put a small amount of silver polish on the microfiber cloth and moisten both the cloth and polish with a little water. Rub the polish onto the silver tea set, pressing lightly and moving in circles.
Step 2
Rinse the silver pieces with warm water. Dry them by patting with a microfiber cloth, ensuring that no water remains on the silver or inside the teapot or cups.
Step 3
Lay the silver flatware roll out on a clean surface. Place the spoons and other flatware from the tea set inside the roll, then roll it up tightly to keep air out.
Step 4
Put each piece of the tea set into its own silver storage bag, then pull the drawstrings closed by hand. Carefully place the silver bags and the flatware roll into the airtight container. Close the container and move it gently to where it will be stored.
