If you have a soft spot for holiday-themed food, these amusing turkey slippers will surely win you over. They start with basic slip-on slippers that get dressed up to resemble turkeys, using felt (which is quite inexpensive, by the way), pompoms, some sewing, and a little hot glue.
Good news: a sewing machine isn't necessary for this indoor slipper craft. The turkey "legs" require only a simple straight stitch, which is the most fundamental hand-sewing technique. (It's also a handy skill for various DIY projects, so it's worth getting the hang of.) But if you happen to own a sewing machine, feel free to use it instead!

Whether you want festive accessories to sport throughout the year or a fun Thanksgiving or Christmas present, this turkey slipper DIY is the top project you'll tackle this season. Let's start crafting!

Which Slippers Should I Use?
This DIY works for anyone, so you can choose children's, men's, or women's slippers in any size. Almost any comfortable slipper style will do, as long as it's brown. We opted for cozy, warm slippers from Amazon that have a suedelike outer, faux shearling inside, memory foam insole, and nonslip rubber sole.
Other choices include clogs, booties, leather slippers, or even open-toe slippers if you prefer something more breathable. Keep in mind that fluffy slippers won't give the classic turkey appearance, but they can still work for this project!
We suggest avoiding expensive, high-quality slippers or leather shoes, since you'll be attaching embellishments with hot glue.
1. Prepare felt for turkey legs

Sketch a turkey leg shape on card stock. Cut it out, then divide it into two parts, separating the bottom "bone" section from the top. These will serve as your templates.
2. Sew and stuff turkey legs

Use hot glue to join the white and brown pieces, overlapping them by about 1/4 inch.
3. Cut out green felt leaves

Draw a holly-style leaf on card stock. Cut it out to make a template.

Using the leaf template, cut four leaves from green felt.
4. Glue embellishments to slippers

Now it's time to finish your holiday lounging slippers! Glue one turkey leg to each side of each slipper. Then, next to the outer turkey legs, hot-glue two holly leaves and three red pompoms.

So cute! Who knew home shoes could be so funky and festive?
