All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) serve a variety of purposes, including agricultural work, sporting competitions, and hunting. Among the numerous ATV manufacturers, Honda is a widely recognized brand. Honda's lineup includes the 2003 Rancher 350, a model that comes with a range of features and specifications designed to accommodate both leisure riding and farm-related tasks.

Chassis and Suspension Details

The 2003 Honda Rancher 350 measures 78.1 inches in length, 45 inches in width, and 44.3 inches in height. Its seat is positioned at a height of 32.4 inches, and the wheelbase spans 49.1 inches. The vehicle has a turning radius of 10.8 feet and offers 9.7 inches of ground clearance. Up front, an independent double-wishbone suspension provides 5.9 inches of travel. At the rear, a single shock absorber and a steel swing-arm also deliver 5.9 inches of travel. The ATV rides on front tires sized 24 by 8-12 and rear tires sized 24 by 9-11. Braking is handled by triple-sealed hydraulic drum brakes at the front and a sealed mechanical drum at the rear.

Engine and Drivetrain

Powering the Rancher 350 is a 329cc overhead-valve, air-cooled four-stroke engine that complies with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) off-road emissions standards. The engine is mounted on rubber cushions to minimize vibration. It features an electric starter, with a recoil starter as a backup, and an electric carburetor heater to aid cold-weather operation. The exhaust header and muffler are constructed from stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The transmission offers five speeds, including reverse and a low first gear. The ATV has full-time four-wheel drive. A torque-sensing front differential reduces steering effort, and the heavy-duty automatic clutch has a low engagement point.

Other Specifications

The fuel tank holds 3.4 gallons, with 0.8 gallons in reserve. Color options for the 2003 Rancher include olive, red, and orange. Front and rear cargo racks are standard, with a front payload capacity of 66 pounds and a rear payload capacity of 133 pounds. A trailer hitch allows towing up to 850 pounds. The air-intake system is designed for water crossings, and the foam air filter is reusable. A keyed ignition switch adds a layer of security.
