There are strict rules regarding alcohol on flights.

When it comes to alcohol on planes, Delta Air Lines follows the Transportation Security Administration's rules. Before you decide to bring alcohol on your flight, it's important to understand and comply with these regulations. If you don't, you might be prevented from boarding or could even be arrested.

Alcohol in Carry-On Baggage

If you bought alcohol in the terminal's secured area, you can bring it on the plane. However, specific rules apply. You can carry up to 5 liters of alcohol with an alcohol content of up to 140 proof, and it must be in its original container. Drinking it on the plane is not allowed.

Alcohol in Checked Baggage

Any alcohol you buy before going through security must go in your checked luggage. You can check up to 5 liters of alcohol that is between 48 and 140 proof, as long as the container is sealed and won't break. For alcohol below 48 proof, you can check as much as you want. Alcohol above 140 proof is not permitted.

Drinking Alcohol On and Before Flights

On Delta flights, you must be at least 21 years old to drink alcohol, no matter where you are in the world. Whether you are served is up to the flight attendants, and they will not serve anyone who is clearly drunk. According to TSA guidelines, Delta's flight attendants will not let a passenger they think is intoxicated get on the plane.
