Renew your Colombian passport to travel internationally.

A passport is required for Colombian citizens who wish to travel abroad, and it is also needed to come back into Colombia. This document serves as proof that you are a resident of the country. At some point, you may need to renew your Colombian passport. The renewal process can be completed at a Colombian embassy close to where you live, as these embassies are situated in various locations worldwide for your convenience. Should you let your passport lapse, you might be required to pay substantial fees to have it reinstated.

Step 1

Locate the Colombian embassy that is most convenient for you. Phone them to schedule an appointment for renewing your passport.

Step 2

Collect three color photographs of yourself. The photos need to be 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm with a plain white background.

Step 3

Make two photocopies of the first page of your passport.

Step 4

Obtain your Certificate of Colombian Citizenship (Cédula de Ciudadanía Colombiana).

Step 5

Attend your appointment and present your photographs, passport copies, passport, and Certificate of Colombian Citizenship to the consulate agent. Complete the passport renewal form and pay the required fee.
