A Simple Method for Securing Luggage Tags to Your Bags
Luggage tags serve to identify your belongings, set them apart from similar bags, and sometimes puzzle people who struggle to fasten them. The solution is to use a girth hitch to connect the tag to a suitcase, duffel, backpack strap, or spinner handle. The tag's strap may appear too short, but it will stretch enough to work.

Luggage tags increase your odds of recovering a lost bag.
Luggage tags serve three purposes: they display your contact details so that airline staff can quickly reunite you with a misplaced bag, they help your bag stand out from similar ones, and they often leave travelers baffled about how to secure them to a piece of luggage. The key is to use a girth hitch to fasten the tag to your suitcase, duffel or backpack strap, or spinner luggage handle. The tag's strap may seem too short at first glance, but it will stretch enough to fit.
Fasten the Loop to the Tag
If the loop isn't already attached to the luggage tag, connect it using a basic girth hitch. Thread one end of the loop through the opening in the tag. Then pass that end through the opposite end of the loop and pull the hitch tight against the tag.
Secure the Tag to the Bag
Use a second girth hitch to attach the loose end of the tag's loop to the luggage handle. Slide the free end under the handle so it comes out on the other side. Then push the luggage tag through the far end of the loop, which will stretch to accommodate it.
Add a Backup Measure
Even a well-made luggage tag can occasionally detach during travel or due to rough handling. As a precaution, place an index card inside the luggage with your contact information written in permanent marker.
