Reaching a Mexican Toll-Free Line When Calling From the U.S.
Mexican toll-free numbers do not carry their toll-free status across the border, so calls placed from the United States are billed as international long distance. It is possible that whoever picks up will not speak English. Because of this, many Mexican companies that serve U.S. customers provide a U.S. toll-free line staffed by English speakers, or they offer another way to get in touch.

Dialing a Mexican toll free number is costly.
A toll-free number in Mexico only functions as toll-free while you are inside Mexico. Once you dial it from the United States, the call is treated as international long distance. It is also not certain that the person who answers will be able to speak English. For this reason, many Mexican businesses that serve customers from the States provide a U.S. toll-free number with English-speaking staff, or they give customers other contact options.
Step 1
Dial 011-52, then the 800 number. Mexico's country code is 52, and 011 is the prefix used to call any location outside the U.S. Whether the call connects is not assured. International long distance rates apply. As another option, you can have an international operator from your phone company place the call, which comes with an extra charge.
Step 2
Buy a pre-paid phone card. In the U.S., pre-paid cards for calling Mexico are commonly available at gas stations, stationery stores, grocery stores, drugstores and supermarkets. Roughly two hours of airtime comes with a $10 card. After activating the card, dial the toll-free number through the 011-52 system. Each call reduces the remaining time, and a successful connection is not assured.
Step 3
Contact the Mexican company or business to find out whether it has a U.S. phone number or a local Mexican phone number. Dial 011-52 followed by the local phone number. Airlines, hotels, major businesses and companies in Mexico usually have at least a local number or a U.S. number.
