Programming the HomeLink System in a Lexus GS300 to Operate Your Garage Door
A HomeLink remote is built into the underside of the rear-view mirror on the Lexus GS300 luxury sedan. This remote can be set up to operate as many as three different devices, one of which may be a garage door. Completing the setup requires just a few minutes and is not difficult.

Open your garage door using the Lexus GS300's on-board remote control.
On the Lexus GS300, a luxury sedan, a HomeLink remote control is mounted on the lower edge of the rear-view mirror. This remote can be configured to operate up to three devices, and a garage door can be one of them. Setup is straightforward and can be finished in a matter of minutes.
Step 1
Locate the hand-held transmitter that was supplied with your garage-door opener -- the type commonly clipped to a sun visor. Bring that hand-held remote near the underside of the rear-view mirror and aim it at the mirror.
Step 2
While pressing the button on the hand-held remote, also press and hold one of the three HomeLink buttons located beneath the rear-view mirror. Observe the HomeLink indicator light, which will blink slowly at first. Once it starts blinking at a faster rate, let go of both buttons.
Step 3
Check the HomeLink button by pressing it a single time. If the garage door responds by opening, the programming is finished. Should the door fail to open, the garage-door opener is likely a rolling-code model.
Step 4
Have an assistant go up a ladder so the back of your rolling-code garage-door opener can be seen. The assistant should find the "Learn" or "Smart" button on the unit -- it is typically positioned close to the hanging antenna wire -- and press and release it.
Step 5
Press and hold the HomeLink button that was trained in Step 2 for two seconds, then release it. Do this two additional times. The entire process must begin within 30 seconds of your assistant pressing the "Learn" or "Smart" button.
Step 6
Press the trained HomeLink button to confirm that it opens your garage door.
