Bernzomatic, a prominent American producer of blowtorches, also offers a selection of gas lighters. These lighters are well-suited for igniting torches, barbecue grills, and various other household items. The Bernzomatic lighter lineup contains three models equipped with flexible stems. Additionally, each model provides an adjustable flame and a window that allows you to monitor the remaining gas level. Since these lighters use electronic ignition, they do not require flints. They are designed for ease of use and include large, comfortable handle buttons for starting the flame.

Step 1

Find the gas fill hole on your Bernzomatic lighter. Its location—either on the back or the bottom—depends on the specific model.

Step 2

Take off the cap from your Bernzomatic butane canister. Turn the canister upside down and place the tip of the gas nozzle into the gas fill hole. Push down on the butane canister to fill until a small amount of liquid emerges from the gas fill hole.

Step 3

Keep the gas cylinder in a secure spot, away from children and pets, and protected from extreme heat, fire, or sparks.

Step 4

Bring the lighter near the material or gas source (for example, a pilot light or grill) that you intend to light.

Step 5

Grasp the lighter so that the large gray switch points upward. To produce a flame, use your thumb to press down on the raised part of the switch.

Step 6

Let go of the button immediately once the flame appears.

Step 7

Keep the lighter in an upright position and look at the liquid level visible in the window at the bottom front of the lighter. If the level is at or below the halfway mark of the window and you want to keep using the lighter, refuel following the instructions in Steps 1 and 2.

Step 8

Place the lighter in a safe location, ensuring that nothing is resting on (or could fall onto) the top gray button. Store it away from children and pets, and keep it clear of sparks, fire, and extreme heat.
