Front-end loaders are common tractor implements.

Compact and mid-range tractors play a vital role for people who own hobby farms or sizable rural properties. Front-end loaders made by Bulldog, along with other implements, can greatly lessen the time and physical effort required to care for such land.

Fundamentals

A front-end loader is a hydraulically driven bucket mounted on the front of a tractor using a framework and hinged arms. These loaders are frequently employed to shift and spread soil, gravel, and rubble. Operators with experience might also use the bucket's edge as a blade for leveling or grading tasks.

Available Models

In 2010, Bulldog offered a lineup of six front-end loader models built to attach to various mid-size tractors. The Bulldog 282 serves as the entry-level option, featuring a sturdy four-foot-wide bucket and a maximum lift height of 82 inches. At the other end, the Bulldog 289 is the largest, with a six-foot-wide bucket and a lift height of 118 inches. Between these two extremes, two versions each of the Bulldog 285 and 287 models are available.

Hydraulic Systems

Both the Bulldog 285 and Bulldog 287 come with a choice of two hydraulic setups. The standard four-way arrangement uses the conventional lift-and-tilt method for moving material. Lift height and tilt angle differ depending on the model. The more recent six-way option includes a split bucket, which can open like a pair of jaws rather than functioning as a single solid scoop.
